A stage trained actor and singer, Sonja has been captivated by performance since her first solos in grade school productions.
Sonja Gabrielsen was born in San Francisco, CA, but shortly moved to New Jersey after a serious earthquake, igniting one of her life passions, geology. Her mother is from Stockholm, Sweden and her father from Princeton, NJ, and she grew up bilingual as a consequence.
Singing from the first day she started talking, music has always played an essential role in her development as a performer, and this helped her onto the Carnegie Hall Stage in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons with the New York POPs. She studied Theatre Arts and Earth Sciences at Cornell University, developing both scientific and professional skills alongside her true passion of performance.
Sonja is a member of one New York’s longest running theatre companies, The Snarks.

Dear Sonja,
Congratulations again on your work in THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST. I’m Donna’s friend whose middle name is Earnest.
I work with Pulse Ensemble Theatre.
Might we be lucky enough to have you read in our Playwrights’ Lab this coming Monday, May 14th?
I will email what’s being read so you can read it in advance and we will have hard copies when you arrive.
We usually meet at 6 pm and begin at 7.
We’ll be at New Perspectives Theater, 458 W 37th Street, between 9th and 10th Avenues, closer to 10th.
It’s very informal, with just the playwrights in attendance.
Looking forward to your reply,
Brian
